Activity Outline

In Japan, one of the world's leading earthquake-prone countries, the experience of earthquakes so far has reminded us of the importance of not only improving the earthquake resistance of individual structures that make up the social infrastructure, but also maintaining the function of the system. .. In other words, instead of considering the earthquake disaster prevention problem as a symptomatic treatment for damage to individual structures and countermeasures against it, from the information that can be obtained by effectively utilizing existing intellectual tools such as geographic information systems. There is an urgent need to build a method that can objectively evaluate the vulnerability of a regional network to disasters in an easy-to-understand manner. In view of this situation, research is aimed at constructing an evaluation system that can contribute to regional earthquake disaster prevention by transplanting the methods cultivated in conventional earthquake engineering to earthquake disaster prevention systems. Is enthusiastically promoting. Currently, I am working on research to apply AI that mechanically simulates the function of human nerve cells to various fields of earthquake engineering and effectively utilize it. For example, we are conducting research to use it for evaluating the non-linear historical behavior of structures. Currently, the verification of analytical and experimental applicability of the one-degree-of-freedom system has been completed, and expansion to the multi-degree-of-freedom system is under consideration. In the future, we would like to incorporate this neural network as part of the system that assists the above disaster prevention system. In addition, since it is an expressway, it is important to quickly grasp the damage situation immediately after the earthquake. We are also working on the development of a system that instantly estimates structural damage from seismic observation records using AI. As a study related to the rationalization of seismic design, we are also working on the evaluation of the impact of surface seismic faults on the seismic resistance of structures, as revealed by the 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes. So far, we have conducted basic applicability studies, but in the future, we plan to start research to show the design procedure for specific structures. Through these studies, he teaches doctoral dissertations, master's thesis and graduation thesis.
